Castletownbere Festival of the Sea is an annual festival which starts on the Bank Holiday Saturday in August. The majority of events are open air and free. Live bands will play each night over the weekend in the square. There will be a children's fancy dress parade, clowns, stilt walkers, face painting, bouncing castles & fun fair. The Bank Holiday Monday sees many water events take place on the pier of Ireland’s second largest fishing port. Gig races (junior & senior), pillow fights & greasy pole are just some of the events you can look forward to seeing on the day. The week continues with a poker classic night, table quiz, dart matches and children's fun days.
